Nous arrivons à la fin de la vidéo sur le picking. Une belle somme de vocabulaire accumulée, n'est-ce pas?
⁃ An important element in the staging process is packaging.
⁃ When similar size cartons are ordered thy can be assembled on a pallet and strapped or shrink wrapped.
⁃ This protects the items during shipping.
⁃ When there are many small items, they can be consolidated into a larger package to reduce handling and transportation costs.
⁃ For example, if the minimum shipment cost by UPS is ten dollars, you can save a lot of money by putting five small items into a single package which also can be shipped for ten dollars.
⁃ When the container is not full, star foam peanuts, air bags or other filler material will be added to prevent damage.
⁃ After the order has been staged, it's time to ship it out.
⁃ Small shipments especially to individual customers are by parcel services.
⁃ Medium size shipments, five hundred to twenty thousand pounds, typically go by LTL (Less Than a truckLoad) carriers.
⁃ If the shipment is large and headed to a foreign destination, it typically goes by container.
⁃ Typical container sizes are ten feet, twenty feet and forty feet.
⁃ Truck or rail shipments are used for domestic destinations. Wether shipping by container or truck, it's important to pack the vehicles to prevent damage.

La troisième minute de la vidéo que nous étudions sur le picking et les rouleaux de papier peint. C'est promis, après la 4e et dernière minute, nous passons à autre chose.
To minimize errors the picker is typically expected to verify each action.
In some cases one picker may pick an entire order.
In other cases, several pickers specialize by picking only in a specific area.
The items have been taken to the packing area for assembly and final packaging.
The picking process is very similar to what you do in grocery store except you pick your won order based on you own shimming list.
The order picker picks mini order from the pick list.
After, the next step in the distribution process is staging.
First the entire order must be assembled especially when multiple pickers pick parts to the order.
Next the accuracy of the order must be verified to ensure that the right items and quantities were picked.
This can be done manually by scanning each item picked or by weighing the order to make sure the picked order weigh is the same as the total of all items on the order.

Grâce au commentaire de Glenn, nous avons le mot manquant!! DYE (teinte).
La phrase est donc la suivante : "The product has to be scanned for both SKU number as well as dye batch since they do not mix that batch numbers."

Minute par minute, je vous propose la retranscription de cette vidéo sur le picking, très riche en vocabulaire.
The orders are then automatically assembled in front of the packer who places all items from that order in the appropriate package.
Only a few dozen employees are able to process 5 millions orders per year. The system communicates with the pickers with light displays at the picking station.
The picker verifies that the correct items have been selected by scanning the product and the tray.
The product has to be scanned for both SKU number as well as a XXX batch since they do not mix that batch numbers.
The customer might notice a slight difference in colour.
The automatic retrieval system that selects the bins for the picker is totally automatic and controlled by the computer.

Vidéo Vin n°1 : liste de vocabulaire

Voici une liste de vocabulaire et de "bouts" de phrases utilisés par l'animateur de la dernière vidéo. Une bonne occasion de se remémorer le vocabulaire de base de la dégustation du vin!
- The first element in the bouquet of wine is to get your nose down into the wine glass
- To inhale several times
- Very sharp inhalations
- To get the aroma into your sinuses, into the mouth.
- To prepare you for the main event which is the taste
- Look at the wine and smell the wine
- Your setting yourself up for that lovely taste to come
- You may smell flowers, you may smell minerals, you may smell the earth
- Individuals have over two hundred different ways to smell wine
- We've been talking about the colour, the swirl, the smell, the tasting
- It's a four part harmony, you might say
- Underline that : not swallow but taste the wine which means you put a small amount of wine in your mouth ant let it seat there for seconds
- Each of your taste bud will get a chance to absorb the fine qualities of this wine.
- The last element is the swallow.
- If a wine is truly terrific it will leave a wonderful finish in your mouth, leaving perhaps a number of seconds of taste, maybe even a minute if you're fortunate.
- It will elevate you from a wine drinker to a wine connoisseur.
